For an entire weekend, their course schedules and term papers will be relegated to the bottommost regions of their backpacks. Cafeteria food will be replaced by fine Shabbat dining, and Ipods will be out-sung by local bands and friendly sing-alongs. It is the annual International Student Shabbaton, and 800 of the world’s Jewish collegians will be there. |

The academic year has got off to a busy start for Chabad on Campus in the UK.
On campuses in Bloomsbury, Brighton, Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh Leeds, Nottingham, Oxford, South Kensington and South London, Chabad centres catered for in excess of one thousand students over the Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot festivals. |

Cambridge Traditional Jewish Congregation has appointed Rabbi Reuven Leigh and his wife Rochel as the synagogue's rabbi and rebbetzin.
The couple moved to Cambridge six year ago to establish Chabad at Cambridge University serving Jewish students. "When we arrived," explains Rabbi Leigh, "we quickly found ourselves intimately involved with the local Jewish community"”

Cambridge, England, reminded Charles Goldberg, Chicago senior, of his move to Lawrence four years ago when he arrived there this summer on a study abroad program. His feelings — initially isolation and then comfort when he found the Chabad Jewish Student group — were exactly the same. |
